Chosen for its interesting type, this coin is before the time of the Crusades, but is noteworthy.

 

 

Obverse- Bust of Emperor Facing holding Holy Hand Grenade left (globe with cross), star right. Reverse - the letter M with star above, legend both sides.   M is the Greek for 40 (Follis was divided into 40 Nummia). Word below is Arabic  for Good.

A coin minted in Haraah under Sephadin, Saladin's brother. Both sides inscriptions, noting Calip Al-Nasir.

A coin minted in Aleppo under Saladin. Note Saladin died in March of 1193.

Interesting coin type, the two male busts are Gemini, while the reverse is copied from a byzantine type used by Romanus III and others.

Another interesting iconographic bronze originally interperted as "the morning of the death of Saladin", now known to be Virgo.

Often refered to as "Saladin holding the severed head of Reynald of Chatillon", it is actually a depection of Mars.
